For all those heading to work or dropping the kids off to school, we have one thing in common- A big tote that basically has our life in it.

Today, I’m going to give you a few quick tips and must haves that you should always carry in your handbag bag.

  1. Let’s start with the most important item you need to carry in your bag, a sturdy umbrella. All you Dartford residents would agree, the weather here is unpredictable. It can rain when it’s sunny and when it’s icy cold, it can rain cats and dogs. You can carry a reasonably priced one from Poundland or ASDA. I recently picked mine from ASDA, a cheerful polka dotted one.
  2. A pen and a diary. It sounds basic but it’s quite useful. There are times when you get important info about the bus routes, etc; any updates from school or sometimes when you need to note down an important phone number. It comes in quite handy. I have a small pocket size combo one that I purchased online.
  3. Peppermint or chewing gum- Dartford is a friendly town. You meet people as you go about your business. Courtesies and small talk are prevalent and quite the norm. You don’t want to be smelling like dead fish while giving directions to a stranger who just befriended you. Or honestly, just for your own healthy self.
  4. I’m sure you’ve heard, when you smell good, you feel great. Carry a small perfume or a body spray at all times. It doesn’t take a lot to smell great.
  5. A lip balm. Ladies you know what I’m talking about. Nothing expensive just a Nivea or any Vaseline would do. It’s a quick fix for chapped lips, it’s a great eye brow setter and looks after baby hair as well. Whether at work or just at the town centre it’s always good to be put together, you never know who you bump into.
  6. Money- If you work long hours or are out a lot, carrying cash or change will go a long way. Also you never know when an emergency hits you.
  7. Phone charger- I’m sure it’s happened to all of us at least once in our life times, the phone’s run out of battery at a crucial hour. Always keep the power bank handy, God knows when you need your mobile the most.
  8. A snack- Never leave home without a snack. An energy bar, a box of mixed nuts to keep the energy levels high, we all know how much running around we do.
