Former Nigerian U20 International, Olumide Durojaiye, arrived at Bericote Powerhouse Princes Park in March after leaving local rivals Welling United.

The versatile Defender/Defensive Midfielder has proved useful to manager Steve King, having been drafted into the squad on seven occasions so far during his short stay at the club.

Born in North London, this extremely religious man has unintentionally appeared to have become a journeyman, having played for numerous teams throughout his football career. Yet, his favourite memory remains as being that moment when he put pen to paper on his first professional contract.

Olumide has always had football in his blood, and has fond memories of always enjoying playing the beautiful game in his estate in Tottenham from a very young age. Playing in the streets soon transferred to playing in his local school, and it was within the confines of learning that he was soon scouted by Tottenham Hotspur at the age of seven. Ten years later saw Olumide sign that first professional contract.

His original choice of career path saw him playing alongside the likes of Luca Modric and Adel Taarabt, two of the best players he’s played with. Yet, he’s also had the good fortune to have played against such iconic players, such as Nicolas Anelka. These are just three talents whom Olumide holds in high regard.

As in all walks of life, there are highs and lows, and Olumide has experienced both. He claims that representing his country at International U20 level is his best career moment, while his worst was being released by Tottenham.

And yet, this ambitious man doesn’t give up. With an extremely successful production company continuing to grow, as well as three children whom he adores, Olumide hasn’t stopped believing in his abilities on the pitch. Having been involved with a team fighting against relegation for a majority of this season (Welling United), his hopes are now firmly set on playing his part and helping the Darts get promoted to the National League. Afterall, his gaffer (Steve King) is an extremely ambitious manager, and a man who constantly wants to win. He’s the reason why a like-minded Olumide moved to Bericote Powerhouse Princes Park.
