95-year-old war veteran Len from Dartford was delighted to receive a letter from Windsor Castle, which said that the Queen passes on her best wishes as he struggles with his health. Len, who was born in 1926 – the same year as the Queen, has lived in the local area for his whole life. He served in the Armed Forces, and thus has lots of stories to tell about his travels and adventures. Unfortunately, Len is bed bound and will not be able to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee this summer, something he was looking forward to. This includes Home Instead’s own jubilee celebration for their clients and Care Professionals. Ram Chandra Thapa and Christina Uppenkamp, owners of Home Instead Dartford, have got to know Len well and wanted to cheer him up, and wrote to Buckingham Palace telling them of his situation. They were over-the-moon to receive a reply from Windsor Castle and a celebratory card from Her Majesty, which they delivered to Len. Ram commented: “It is such an honour to receive a card and a message from Windsor Castle. They were sorry to hear of Len’s situation, but passed on best wishes for his significant milestone birthday. Len was delighted – being the same age as the Queen means she has played a significant role in his life, as he has grown up watching her journey and lived throughout her whole reign. The card really did bring a smile to his face, and he said that is was a lovely gesture!” Home Instead doesn’t just provide quality home care services for their elderly clients, but continually goes above and beyond to improve the lives of ageing adults. Their Care Professionals develop great relationships with their clients, forming strong bonds. This results in companionship-led care that not only maintains the health of their clients, but their wellbeing too.
