This year marks the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe – a pivotal moment in our shared history. Following a poignant wreath-laying event on the actual day, Dartford Borough Council is marking this important anniversary on Sunday 18th May in Dartford’s Central Park.
There will be plenty to keep the whole family entertained, with a full-scale replica Spitfire and vintage fire engine on display in the park, along with uniformed Commonwealth re-enactors, a bomb-disposal team, face-painting, balloon modelling, unlimited free tea, and much more. Soundtracking the day are the fabulous Wartime Singers and Dartford Concert Band, who will be playing patriotic wartime favourites.
The formidable Winston Churchill will also be making an appearance, so look out for him!

VE Day is a day to honour the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought for our freedom, but also to celebrate the strength, unity and spirit that carried people through such difficult times. This is a fantastic free event for the whole family, so I hope to see you there!”
