Bach to Baby concert series returns to Dartford

by | Sep 17, 2015 | Dartford Entertainment, Where to go locally

Bach to Baby, the critically acclaimed London-based classical concert series for babies, children and parents, is back in Dartford this month! On the 23rd September, the internationally acclaimed french horn players, Stephen Stirling and Anthony Halstead, will perform for you and your little ones at Christ Church, Cross Road from 10.30-11.30. This is one not to be missed – to have these extraordinary musicians playing on our doorstep is incredibly exciting.

Bach to Baby believes children can enjoy exceptional live classical music from their very earliest moments. So Maidstone families can expect outstanding musicians from the UK’s top concert stages performing for them in this inspiring location right on their doorsteps. In recent months, audiences have been treated to the sounds of the harp, bassoon, trumpet, piano, and cello, with more exciting instruments coming up between now and Christmas.

With sold out concerts at Buckingham Palace and Royal Albert Hall, Bach to Baby is a much-loved series across London. Kent mum and musician Alex Callanan is devoted to bring the concerts to local audiences. Alex said, “Music plays an important role in the development of children’s imagination, memory, cognitive skills and musicality. So I believe quality live music should be available to all, including the babies and young children of North Kent!”

Alex is also thrilled to announce that the Autumn Season of Bach to Baby North Kent will be culminating in a very special Christmas concert at Canterbury Cathedral on Tuesday 24th November. More information and ticket booking will be available online nearer the time.

==========

Alex has performed with many of Britain’s best orchestras including BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, BBC Concert Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony and Welsh National Opera. As part of The Thorne Trio, Alex is heard up and down the country in recital and education workshops.

Miaomiao Yu, an award-winning pianist and Professor of Piano at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, founded Bach to Baby in 2011 after becoming frustrated at not being able to take her children to the sort of quality classical concerts that she enjoyed as a professional musician.

Bach to Baby now presents monthly concerts in 45 venues across London, Surrey, Thames Valley, Essex and North Kent. “It’s about Mozart and Bach, feeding and crying, and dancing to music – all of it. We haven’t made it through a concert without at least one nappy change. That’s the way it should be.” Miaomiao said, adding that it felt like the right time to bring the series to new areas.

North Kent concerts will run from 10.30am to 11.30am at all locations with an half hour pre-concert ‘coffee mingle’ offering much needed caffeine, calories and company for mums and dads.
