It is always a pleasure to be welcomed by the Orchard Theatre/West, tonight was no different, such a lovely buzz filled the foyer and beyond. I have been lucky enough to partake in many different shows, whether it be pantomimes, who-dunnits, musicals and all in between.
A welcoming venue sets the scene for a terrific trip of good wholehearted family entertainment, a trip through the era of musical theatre. What a joy to behold!
Time flew as a wonderful ensemble cast sung and danced their hearts out, it was spectacular, hard to pick a star when every member not just twinkled but shone!
The musical numbers, each carefully choreographed and exquisitely performed, were breath taking!
A special mention to the youth members who frankly were outstanding, who I fully expect to be on the West End Stage very soon.
What an absolute treat!
I came expecting the musical numbers, and I was not disappointed, the lead singers were magnificent. However, one should not ignore the comic timing, entertainment and subtlety of the ensemble cast.
Wardrobe were on pointe, and left me envious of all the wonderful dresses and outfits. It’s hard to pick a stand out performance, there were many, but I particularly liked ‘sit down you’re rockin’ the boat’ and ‘Beggin’. Well done to the whole cast, who left me walking home, thinking ‘This is the greatest show’
