TS Anson from above

TS Anson is the name we are recognised by, TS stands for Training Ship and Anson was the name of a famous Admiral. No less than 9 HMS ships of the line have been named HMS Anson, the current bearing the name being a submarine.  We are based on peninsular that is on Brooklands Lake Princes Road Dartford our unit has been based here since 1948 having been set up elsewhere in Dartford in 1942 during the height of WWII. Since that time more than a 1000+ sea cadets have been trained at the unit, many going on to join the Royal Navy and Merchant Navy and many going in to other fields of work and chosen careers and all taking one thing with them in to their adult lives, having been a part of The Sea Cadet Experience of a lifetime, opportunities that you cannot put a price on as well as a lasting sense of proudly having been part of a unique family that will serve them well in to their futures.

Dartford and Crayford Sea Cadets
Our unit is open every Tuesday and Thursday evening throughout the year except Christmas and New Year, we are open all throughout the school holidays when many other youth groups close down.

Our cadets take an active roll in local civil events such as remembrance Sunday services at Dartford War Memorial where they parade alongside veterans and other youth groups. They form guard of honours and flag lowering and piping or playing the bugle at the funerals of ex-servicemen and women locally in Dartford, Swanley, and Crayford and sometimes further afield. They assist each November in helping the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal fund raising by going out to local shopping areas and selling poppies. Two of our cadets serve as Mayor of Dartford Cadets and assist the current Mayor in any civic events as escorts.

January & New Year & New Beginings

One of our cadets recently read a prayer at Westminster Abbey in front of HM The Queen as part of the 70th Anniversary of VE Day. Six other cadets from Dartford escorted veterans up Whitehall past the Cenotaph on their way to a reception at St Jame’s Park with HRH The Prince of Wales.

Our cadets take part at Dartford, Wilmington, Crayford and Swanley festivals and local events each year, they seek to recruit youngsters to join the sea cadets whilst also fund raising for our unit as we are a registered charity.
