After being crowned district winners in their category at the Try Angle Awards 2019, Dartford Youth Council (DYC) have been announced as county finalists at The Spirit of Try Angle Awards 25th Anniversary in February.

Following a large number of nominations and county-wide judging, DYC were selected as district winners of the ‘Community Action Award’ for their contribution to the Dartford community, and chosen as one of twenty-four finalists to be invited to The Spirit of Try Angle Awards county final event on Sunday 9th February 2020.

The event celebrates the achievements of young people from across Kent and their truly inspirational stories in categories such as ‘Courage’, ‘Positive Intervention’, ‘Good Friends and Young Carers’, ‘Personal Development’, ‘Community Action’, and ‘Personal Achievement in the Arts, Music and Sports.’

In accepting the Community Action Award at the 2019 Try Angle Awards, Ricky Taing, the DYC’s longest serving member said, “It is a great accolade for Dartford Youth Council to be invited to the Spirit of Try Angle Awards.

Through my five years volunteering as part of Dartford Youth Council, I have been exceptionally proud of our achievements through our role within the community. Our recognition at the Spirit of Try Angle Awards will not only be testament to the dedication shown by fellow hardworking youth councillors, but also help us to spread our influence in our aim of providing voices for young people.”
