After a break of 3 years, We Are Beams were thrilled to be back at Swanley Park, even bigger and more brightly coloured for their annual Colour Dash.

On Sunday 3rd July, this family friendly rainbow coloured 5K fun run saw over 500 fundraisers get messy for a great cause!

The runners, walkers and wheelchair users made their way around the completely accessible course including many of the disabled children and families who are supported by the charity.

All the runners started in white for but at every 1km; they tackled a different coloured powder so the finish line was a rainbow of colours!

Angelo, who has Downs Syndrome, took part and had an amazing time. Angelo has personally benefited from the support of Beams through Short Break services and Dragon’s Retreat Respite Care.

Georgia, is a support worker at Beams and tackled the course with Angelo

“We had a wonderful day! Angelo loved the Colour Dash so much that we stayed in the park afterwards to keep throwing powder all over ourselves. Angelo loved the sensory side of throwing the colours and didn’t stopped smiling!”

Caroline Brinkman, Income Generation and Development Lead at Beams, said,

“Our charity relies on the generosity of the community and supporters, so to raise such a significant amount is amazing!

We are grateful to everyone that took part and because of the support of local businesses who helped to cover the event costs, all donations from the event will go directly towards supporting disabled children and their families.

Thank you to our sponsors, Everyone Active, Classroom Support, EJ Coombes Solicitors, Glencore, Specsavers Swanley, Club K and Beginners2Runners
