Hospice charity to hold open day to recruit more nurses

by | Jan 24, 2016 | Dartford Charities

ellenor, a local charity providing care and support to families facing terminal illness in Kent, is holding an open day on Friday 29 January as part of a drive to recruit more care staff.

The charity currently has a number of vacancies including Clinical Nurse Specialists, Staff Nurses, Advanced Nurse Practioners, and Health Care Assistants, and is opening its doors at its centre in Gravesend from noon to 7pm to give people a chance to come along and learn more about what it is like to work in the field of hospice care.

Jacquie Hackett, Director of Patient Care for ellenor, explains: “As demand for our sought after care grows, we need to ensure that we are able to continue to be there for those who need us. We believe that for people working in nursing and health care, we offer a really rewarding and worthwhile opportunity to make an impact for families at a time when every moment is so precious.”

The open day will include a chance to speak to staff about what it’s like to work in hospice care, as well a tour of ellenor Gravesend, in Coldharbour Road, including the Day Therapy and Inpatient Ward, Home Care support, gym, therapy and treatment rooms, and relatives accommodation.

Linda Coffey, Head of Adult Community Services, who recently joined the team spoke of what it’s like working for ellenor.

“The biggest difference between my previous role and working in hospice care is how much of a difference I can make in a family’s life in just one day,” she says.

People interested in this opportunity can just drop in at any time during the afternoon or call 01474 320007 for more information. For a list of our current vacancies visit www.ellenor.org
