Dartford is rocking this week as Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story visits as part of its 2023 UK Tour.
I first saw this sensational multi award-winning West End show when it originally opened in 1989 and it was even better today.
A multi-talented cast of actor-musicians tell Buddy Holly’s story, from his Texas rockabilly beginnings to international stardom before his tragic death aged just 22. His meteoric rise happened at a time before the Internet and social media had been invented, making his success and longevity all the more incredible.
The show is packed with memorable numbers, including That’ll Be The Day, La Bamba, Chantilly Lace, Johnny B. Goode and many many more!
I was transported to a different time and place and was impressed by the energy and talent of the entire cast. Look out for some interesting playing of the double bass – maybe a sport of the future! The show also shines a spotlight on the realities of that era with both honesty and humour.
If it’s raining in your heart, book tickets now – Oh Boy, you will just want to Shout and Rave On, Everyday!
