The Mayor of Dartford’s Charity Appeal in aid of Darent Valley Hospital’s Lollipop Fund was

given a boost as the Chairman of Wilmington Axstane Probus Club, Colin Verry, announced

that, through the Mayor’s Charity Appeal, his chosen Charity for his year of Office would be

the Lollipop Fund.

The Mayor and Immediate Past Chairman of the Club, Councillor Ian Armitt, said that he was

delighted to learn of the unexpected support for his Charity Appeal which was very much

appreciated.

The Lollipop Fund looks to provide funding not only for the specialist equipment needed in

the Childrens’ High Dependancy Unit at Darent Valley Hospital but also improving the

facilities for parents who have to stay overnight whilst their child undergoes intensive and

intrusive treatment.

The purpose of a Probus Club is to provide regular monthly lunch meetings for retired and

semi-retired professional and business men, particularly those who would appreciate and

value in their retirement, increased social contacts and the possibility of partaking in

activities of general interest. The Club meets on the last Thursday in every month at

Swanley Indoor Bowls Centre.
