North Kent College Hairdressing Students Are a Cut Above!

by | Jul 10, 2023 | Dartford News, Dartford Schools

North Kent College hairdressing students are celebrating after being named Education College of the Year, by one of the industry’s most renown figures.

The College’s Lee Stafford Academy is one of a number across the country that is open to the public, and is run across its Dartford, Gravesend and Tonbridge campuses.

Students are trained in 22 colour, cut and styling looks in-line with hairdresser Lee Stafford’s own specially designed hair styling techniques.

The lecturers have their own extremely high standards to meet before they are accredited to teach students, and North Kent College has double reason to celebrate with lecturers Julie Hambleton and Maria Cotonou, achieving “master trainers” status within four months of starting their training, the fastest this has ever been achieved.

The Lee Stafford Education Foundation works with affiliated colleges across the country to provide the necessary training, and General Manager of the Foundation, Jayne Schauenburg, was in no doubt that North Kent College were worthy winners:

“All the Lee Stafford Academy partners are amazing, but this year North Kent College stood out to Lee and the team for all they have achieved and continue to do.

“Whenever one of our team are on site at one of the three campuses, we feel the energy and passion in their teaching salons, they are committed to the students. In short, the North Kent College Hairdressing department are worthy winners of the ‘Lee Stafford Education College of the Year’ title.”

Stacie Collings, Assistant Principal for North Kent College, expressed her delight at the award, saying: “This recognition is a testament to our commitment to excellence in education and the dedication of our College and staff. We are excited to continue to provide high-quality educational experiences for our students.”

North Kent College is partnered with the Lee Stafford Education Foundation across all three campuses at Dartford, Tonbridge and Gravesend.

A range of hairdressing and barbering courses are offered with students taught all the skills to master what Lee Stafford calls the ‘Michelin standard’ of hairdressing.

Students learn in a state-of-the-art hairdressing salon, with all the latest equipment and products, fully supported by a team of experienced hairdressers and barbers.

The three salons are open most weekdays, and on selected evenings, to the general public with students providing all of the services, from working on the reception desk to implementing the latest styles and trends, at a fraction of the cost.

Anyone interested in studying hairdressing can find more details on the course finder section of the North Kent College website, or by attending one of our upcoming open events.

North Kent College also welcomes any hair and beauty employer to be part of its Employer Forum. Anyone interested and based in the Dartford and Gravesend areas should contact Clare Upham-Sharpe by emailing clareuphamsharpe@northkent.ac.uk or if based Tonbridge and the surrounding area, they should contact Hayley Clement by emailing hayleyclement@northkent.ac.uk.
