The Giving Tree Returns to Bluewater this Christmas

by | Dec 6, 2023 | Bluewater

Bluewater has announced the return of its popular Giving Tree in support of a variety of children’s and family charities across Kent and the South East.

The charity drive will help over 40 local organisations in the run up to Christmas this year, including:

Kent Wish Foundation, who create the opportunities and platforms for children and young adults with life limiting illnesses to receive their one ‘wish’.
We Are Beams, a charity which supports disabled children, young people and their families in Dartford, Gravesham and Sevenoaks.
East Kent Mencap, who help individuals with a learning disability to achieve what they want out of life, through choice, support, and opportunity.
Dartford Foodbank, distributing food and essential items to people across Dartford who are facing a financial crisis.
Bexley Moorings Project, an early intervention support service offering one-to-one befriending and specific group sessions to those aged between 8-17, who may be experiencing material or emotional deprivation, in crises, at risk or have a caring responsibility.

Donations can be made to The Giving Tree, situated on Upper Thames Walk near M&S and Superdry, until 18th December. Guests can choose a tag from the tree, detailing the child they’ll buy for, and head off to choose the perfect gift at one of Bluewater’s hundreds of stores. The appeal will be accepting contactless, tap-and-go donations, alongside physical gifts, ensuring time-poor guests can still quickly and easily contribute to good causes.

James Waugh, Centre Director at Bluewater, said: “The festive season is a time of togetherness and community, where everyone deserves to feel loved and cared for, which is why we’re focusing on giving back to those in need as we announce the return of The Giving Tree at Bluewater.

“We know that our charity drives are always met with the upmost generosity from our guests, and we’re sure the thoughtful donations made will help make a real difference to those who need it most this Christmas”.

The festive spirit continues at Bluewater as its brand-new ‘Believe’ experience is now open. Guests can visit Santa’s enchanting post room and meet his mischievous elves as they sort through letters from children around the world, before enjoying a magical experience with the man in red to share their Christmas wishes. The grotto is located on the Lower Rose Gallery, opposite Superdrug, and is open to guests right up until Christmas Eve.

What’s more, this Christmas brings the return of Bluewater’s Winterland and undercover ice rink, with both attractions open daily until Sunday 7th January (excluding Christmas Day).
