Kindness Community Celebrates Award Win, Expands Fundraising Efforts, and Inspires Acts of Kindness Nationwide

Kindness Community CIC has been busy spreading kindness far and wide, from crafting for charity and winning awards to raising awareness in Parliament.

Recently, members of the Kindness Community have been handcrafting items to raise funds for the breast cancer charity CoppaFeel! combining creativity with compassion to support a vital cause. Their dedication to helping others was recognised when the organisation proudly won Silver in the Community Contribution category at the Kent Health and Beauty Awards.

Locally, the group continues to bring people together through its Kindness and Wellbeing Group, held every Tuesday from 9:30–11:30am at St Edmund’s Church, Dartford. The sessions offer a warm, welcoming space for connection, creativity, and community spirit. It’s an opportunity to receive non-judgemental support from new friends over a cuppa for just £3 a week. Everyone is welcome, with no referral or pre-booking needed.

Founder Laura Hope Cordell has also been making headlines for her tireless campaigning for better treatment and recognition for people with chronic illnesses. Laura, who lives with multiple disabling physical and mental health conditions including Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (PoTS), was even mentioned in Parliament by MP Jim Dickson recently for her advocacy work and awareness-raising efforts.

Despite her own health challenges, Laura continues to volunteer her time to send out Kindness Kits, parcels of love delivered through the letterbox, to people in need across the UK, as well as mental health packs to individuals struggling around the world.

All of this work relies on donations and creative fundraising. The biggest initiative this season is the Online Market for Kindness Community, hosted at www.facebook.com/groups/kindnesscommunitymarket. For just £7.50, stallholders can showcase their products to over 6,000 customers throughout November: That’s just 25p a day for unlimited listings, with no commission or ongoing fees.

The online market is designed to be accessible for all, offering a supportive platform for many small business owners who live with chronic illnesses or mental health challenges to reach new customers without leaving home.

Stalls can be purchased at www.kindness-community.com, and more information about the organisation’s work and support services can be found at tinyurl.com/kindnesscommunity.
