Cooking up a storm at food festival to raise money for children’s hospital

by | Sep 12, 2015 | Dartford Charities, Where to go locally

What are the ingredients for a great family day out?

How about a good mix of free farm tours for children, farm animals, bouncy castle, live music, BBQ and cookery demonstrations? Then you add Kentish ale, local produce, homemade cakes, tea tent and a farmers’ market and you’ve got the KTB Charity Food Festival.

It’s being held on Sunday September 27th, from noon – 4pm in Bexley. The fun will be at Mill Meadows Farm with celebrity chef Tony Tobin heading the line-up with cookery demonstrations and Eynsford Concert Band will perform throughout the afternoon. Children can also enjoy face-painting, farm tours and a kids’ kitchen, whilst the grown-ups can be entertained in the food theatre, watching cookery demonstrations and having the chance to buy local produce.

KTB Physiotherapy and Pilates has clinics in both Dartford and Bexley and the event is being held by them to raise money for The Evelina London Children’s Hospital.

August 2015

KTB’s Directors Katie and Toby Ballard, along with friends and family, have so far raised £22,000 for the hospital, which has treated their son Benji since he was born in 2010. Diagnosed on the day of his birth with a chromosomal abnormality, Benji is regularly at The Evelina for a variety of treatments. This year alone he’s had three operations including open-heart surgery. (pictured) The family is hoping the food festival will bring their fund-raising total up to £25,000 – all donated to The Evelina .

Local producers will form a mini Farmers’ Market and if others want to join, pitches are £20; please get in touch with Katie at KTB Physio.

Tickets for the event are £5 each, (free for under twos) and available from KTB Physio’s clinics in Dartford and Bexley, either in person or over the phone on 01322 277000 / 01322 552299.
