Are you registered?

With Elections now scheduled for 5 May 2016 (Police and Crime Commissioners Election) and 23 June 2016 (EU Referendum), are you registered to vote?

If you have been sent an Invitation to Register (ITR) in the post you need to complete and return these forms as soon as possible. Alternatively you can register online quickly and easily at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

There is still time to register and have your say in the forthcoming elections.

In order to register to vote you must:

  • live in the electoral area
  • be at least 18 years old or due to become 18 during the registration period
  • be a British, Irish, Commonwealth citizen or citizen of a European Union country

If you are not registered you cannot vote.

By law you must register and could be fined up to £80 if you don’t. Not being on the electoral register can also mean that you may find it harder to get a loan, mortgage, finance agreement or even a mobile phone contract, as the register is used by credit reference agencies.

So what are you waiting for? Register today!
