Big Energy Saving Week Paying too much for your energy?

by | Oct 26, 2016 | Dartford News

Dartford consumers are being invited to bring their gas and electric bills along to see if they can save hundreds of pounds.

Citizens Advice energy champions will be in town on Thursday November 3rd as part of Big Energy Saving Week.

The energy team from Citizens Advice in North and West Kent will be helping the public to Check, Switch and Save.

Consumers can save an average of £200-300 a year on their energy bills alone if they have never switched supplier before.

The energy team will be showing consumers how to:

* CHECK whether they are getting the best deal and are getting all the financial help to which they are entitled,

* SWITCH supplier or tariff,

* SAVE energy and reduce their bills.

Find the energy team from 10am to 2pm at Trinity Resource Centre, High Street, Dartford DA1 1DE on Thursday November 3rd.

The energy team will also be giving practical advice on insulation and energy saving in the home.

Louise Walford, South East energy champion, said: “Just a few simple tips can save people hundreds of pounds.

“Consumers who have never switched supplier before can save an average of £200 to £300 a year, sometimes more.”

This is the sixth Big Energy Saving Week and is a partnership between Citizens Advice, the Energy Saving Trust and other voluntary and charitable organisations. It is funded by the Department of Business Energy and Industrial Strategy.

The week is supported by numerous organisations, charities and companies.

The energy team can show consumers how to compare energy companies and tariffs. They can also check that those on low incomes are getting the Warm Home Discount worth £140 a year off bills.

They can also check that vulnerable consumers such as the frail elderly and those with medical needs are on the Priority Services Register for fast reconnection if there’s a power cut and for service.
