Greenhithe Lady Raises £2678.25 for Dog A.I.D.

Andrea Forshman Dog AIDAndrea Forshman (43) from Greenhithe in Kent has raised £2678.25 for Dog A.I.D., a charity that enables people with disabilities to train their own pet dog to Assistance Dog level.  Andrea took part in the Vitality 10,000 race on Monday 29th May in London, finishing it in exactly one hour.

Andrea challenges herself by running a 10K each year and this time chose to raise funds for Dog A.I.D. after reading Lucy Watt’s blog about life with her assistance dog Molly.  Andrea’s fundraising efforts were kindly matched by her employers Bridgepoint through their Charitable Trust.

Dog A.I.D. was established in the 1990’s and there are currently 57 fully qualified dogs throughout the country.  Training takes from 18 months to two years with both dog and owner receiving specialist education from a network of trainers based around the country.  The dog owner is given all the tools required to constantly reinforce training methods learnt and also continue to teach their dog new cues and tasks independently.

Andrea comments, “I really enjoyed the race, especially running past such great London landmarks.  I would like to thank the Dog A.I.D. team for their support, everyone who donated and my employers for matching the sum raised.  Also a special thanks to the amazing Lucy and Molly who inspired me to fundraise for Dog A.I.D.”
