Birmingham Stage Company, the acclaimed producers of the hit David Walliams play Gangsta Granny, are looking for an 18 year old female dancer to play a small but important part in the show when it plays at The Orchard Theatre from Wednesday 23 to Saturday 26 May as part of its current UK tour.

Gangsta Granny is the story of Ben and his grandmother. It’s Friday night and Ben knows that means only one thing – staying with Granny! There will be cabbage soup, cabbage pie and cabbage cake and Ben knows one thing for sure – it’s going to be sooooooooo boring!

But what Ben doesn’t know is that Granny has a secret – and Friday nights are about to get more exciting than he could ever imagine, as he embarks on the adventure of a lifetime with his very own Gangsta Granny!

All you can do in this life is follow your dreams. Otherwise you’re just wasting your time!Gangsta Granny

Neal Foster, the show’s director, said today: “This is a really good opportunity for a young dancer just starting in the profession to get a great addition to her CV, as well as gaining valuable on stage experience acting with a professional company in a show rated 4 stars by national critics. We envisage busy audiences at The Orchard Theatre so the girl chosen will have a week to remember, dancing a solo in front of huge enthusiastic audiences. Whoever is selected will find it a wonderful and unforgettable experience!”

Dancers considering applying for the paid role should have a playing age of around 11/12 years old and will ideally be 5’4” or under.

The chosen dancer will be sent a video of the two minute dance she will be performing in the show so she can learn the choreography. She will be expected to perform in all Gangsta Granny performances, both daytimes and evenings, at The Orchard Theatre, Dartford, across the run.

Any 18 year old female dancers interested in being considered should email gangstagranny@birminghamstage.com for more information or visit The Orchard Theatre website (https://orchardtheatre.co.uk/Online/tickets-gangsta-granny-dartford-2018) for more information.

Gangsta Granny is a must for all families as the show will be enjoyed by everyone from 5 to 105! It’s both laugh out loud funny and thrilling but also has some very moving and truthful things to say about family relationships. The show was premiered in 2015 and has been touring the UK ever since as well as enjoying a West End season in summer 2017.

The show will be at The Orchard Theatre from Wednesday 23 to Saturday 26 May 2018. To book tickets or for more information visit orchardtheatre.co.uk or call the Ticket Office on 01322 220000.
