Dartford was travelling through time this evening with the Summer Youth Project’s production of A Musical Journey.
Performed by a cast of 100 young performers, the Orchard West stage came alive with local talent! It really felt like we were in the West End of London!
A Musical Journey is exactly what it was, as the story took us through the history of past Summer Youth Projects and Orchard West itself. However, what was unexpected was not the amazing voices or the acrobatic dancing but the humour delivered with perfect comic timing. We laughed out loud in several places.
There were hundreds of musical theatre references and lots of favourite songs from West End hits such as Wizard of Oz, School of Rock, Little Shop of Horrors, Oliver, Bugsy Malone, Bring It On, Footloose, Fame and more.
These children are the stars of the future and there was not a single child in the cast who did not inspire with their enthusiasm, energy and excellence but for me Sean Faulkner, Tatyana de Freitas, Ellis Stoner and
May Andrews deserve a special mention.
There is not enough space here to name them all, so you really need to buy tickets so that you can see and hear for yourself.
There are performances on Saturday 9th August and Sunday 10th August so be quick before they sell out.
A Musical Journey at Orchard West is the only place to be this weekend!
