Bluewater has launched an in-centre Community Collection Bank where visitors can drop off donations to benefit their local community food bank – Dartford Foodbank.
The Community Collection Bank, situated in the Yellow Welcome Hall, between Burger King and Timpson, will be accepting both non-perishable food and hygiene supplies. Items that Dartford Foodbank is currently particularly in need of include:
- Long life milk
- Tinned vegetables and tinned meat
- Coffee, tea, and chocolate
- Pasta sauces
- Long life fruit juice
- Practical toiletries (toilet rolls, soap, shower gel, toothpaste etc)
- Cleaning supplies (laundry powder, surface cleaner, washing up liquid, bleach etc)
James Waugh, Centre Director at Bluewater Shopping Centre, said: “We are proud to have partnered with Dartford Foodbank, and to be able to support them with the donations made to our Community Collection Bank.
“We hope the donations made through the centre are of great benefit to our local community.”
Sue Swaffer from Dartford Foodbank commented: “Each Tuesday morning, we see on average 100 people and give out approximately 1,500 items. With the assistance of Bluewater’s Community Collection Bank, we will to be able to provide support to more people, who need our services now more than ever.
“All donations are welcome, with cupboard food, toiletries and household cleaning products being a great help to people trying to make ends meet.”
