The staff and children of Brent Playgroup celebrated their milestone today with local MP Jim Dickson. They marked the growth of the Playgroup to include the new Preschool, with children and staff sharing cupcakes, and staff discussing plans for future growth.
Kerry Wanden is the third owner of Brent Playgroup and has overseen the development of the ne preschool. She explained how they will need to recruit more staff due to demand.
New and experienced staff attended the celebration, including Key Worker Brenda who has worked at the Playgroup for 38 years and seen generations of families come through its doors.
The Brent Playgroup has been running as a nursery since 1972.Under the new leadership, the nursery has been praised by Ofsted for its independence building and warm approach, with children making their own flatbreads from scratch and growing strawberries in a vegetable garden built by parents.
Local MP Jim Dickson said:
“It was great to join in the celebrations today for Brent Preschool’s first year. The preschool has grown and expanded under its new leadership while remaining firmly rooted in the Dartford community – with most of the staff living a five minute walk away!”
I enjoyed meeting the children, and seeing the commitment of the staff to supporting all the children who come through and develop vital social skills and independent learning.”
The Preschool is looking to keep bringing in more children and staff members as it continues to support Dartford’s population, and is looking forward to their Ofsted rating coming through over the summer, their first since the preschool was established.
