Completing the headline acts at this year’s FREE Dartford Festival held over Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th July, we are proud to announce the following acts

Peter Hook & The Light are an English rock band, formed in May 2010 by the former Joy Division and New Order bassist, Peter Hook. Moving through the albums from both those bands, Peter Hook & The Light perform festival “hybrid” sets of the well-known material from both bands which they are currently touring world-wide having amassed  some 450 shows in the seven years since their first concert .

The Christians took the British pop charts by storm in the late 80s/early 90s.  Hits such as Ideal World, Born Again, were shortly followed by number one selling album Colour. Their version of ‘Harvest for the World’ raised millions for Unicef. Now celebrating 30 years since the release of their debut album, The Christians are touring with full band in the UK, France and Spain

The Christians lead singer Garry Christian said “The band and I are really buzzing to be playing Dartford Festival especially on our 30th anniversary year …. we want to show everyone that despite not getting to Kent often enough that Dartford is certainly NOT a ‘Forgotten Town’ – can’t wait to get everyone in full festival happy mood on July 15th when we’ll be singing all the hits you (hopefully) remember! …. see you then xx”

Ian Prowse & Amsterdam. 2017 will be 25 years since Ian’s first ever album with his original band Pele. Fireworks is a classic debut album bursting with energy and melody which gained Ian’s song writing its first ever set of fans when the band toured the land constantly in the early 90’s. Fireworks was released on Polydor/M&G and produced 4 singles, 3 of which were play listed on BBC Radio 1.

Ian and his 6 piece band Amsterdam which was formed in 1999 will be recreating the madness of those early shows by playing tracks from the album on a UK tour to coincide with the actual anniversary.

Shane Hampsheir. In the past 5 years, Shane has performed with the likes of the Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra and Syd Lawrence Orchestra as well as with his own 17-piece big band in the UK and around Europe. In May of 2016,

Shane reached number 1 in the iTunes Jazz Chart with his debut single, ‘Brazil’. He also made his New York debut recently at the famous ‘Metropolitan Room’ in Manhattan. Returning to Dartford following his recent headlining show in New York, and an iTunes Jazz Chart No. 1 single, Shane Hampsheir brings you the ultimate hits from the world of swing, including classic songs from the likes of Frank Sinatra, Chet Baker and Tony Bennett.

Charlyn is a Pop/Rock/Electronic group based in London. They have previously toured Switzerland and played at major festivals such as Montreux Jazz, they have also played famous London venues such as The 02 Forum and 229. With their 80s influences and positive energy, Charlyn promises a superb live show. The band is currently recording their second EP due for release summer 2017. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcEHvxFQSAjPeJWPyIWqEsg

Council Leader Jeremy Kite said “The line-up for this year’s Festival is really coming together and it has the makings of a classic year. Peter Hook and The Christians will be names familiar to serious music lovers and it’s wonderful that they are going to be on the Festival stage here at Dartford”
