Dartford Council reveals opening dates for Buccaneer Bay

by | Mar 6, 2023 | Dartford Community, Dartford Council, Dartford News, Where to go locally

A weekend of swashbuckling fun will bring Central Park’s new play area to life, as opening dates for Buccaneer Bay have been confirmed.

The excitement kicks off on the weekend of March 11th and 12th, when Dartford families can set sail for Buccaneer Bay themselves, with a free two day ticketed grand opening. Expect giveaways and pirate activities next to a towering 8m tall lighthouse, a galleon, friendly animal-themed climbing frames and a quiet area for accessible play. From March 13th Buccaneer Bay will be open for everyone to enjoy.

Leader of the Council Jeremy Kite said: “The response we’ve had since announcing Buccaneer Bay last year has been amazing. Central Park is already a much loved destination for families, but this new attraction takes it to another level for everyone to enjoy.

“The transformation of this play area over the last few months has been inspiring to see, and we can’t wait to share it with families.”

Familiar features of Central Park’s play area like the zipline and splash are still in Buccaneer Bay, but they’ve been given a revamp to fit our pirate theme.

The ticketed events come after a special sneak preview for Colouring Competition winners.

Over the past 12 months Dartford Borough Council has been working with Kompan on improving play spaces at Darenth Country Park, Hesketh Park, Jessamine Place, Queens Garden and at the Bridge Estate.

Stuart Pettit, Regional Sales Manager – Southern Region at Kompan UK, said: “At Kompan UK, we are extremely proud to have been involved in this hugely exciting project. The vision of Dartford Borough Council to transform the playground at Central Park into the best in the UK was one that we relished, and it has been a pleasure to work in partnership with them.

“We look forward to welcoming children to this inclusive, exhilarating play space where they can unleash their imaginations and immerse themselves in a swashbuckling pirate adventure.”
