DARTFORD FC | CLASS OF 2025-26 | MEET ROHAN VAUGHAN

by | Apr 21, 2026 | Walking with the Darts

Dartford took on Chatham Town on Bank Holiday Monday. Chris Palmer spoke to Rohan Vaughan, who featured in the matchday programme for that fixture. For those who missed it, here is the article:

Rohan Vaughan arrived at Princes Park recently, having joined on loan from the QPR Development Squad until the end of the season.

The young attacker signed for Ady Pennock’s outfit with one ambition in mind… “To gain some valuable men’s football experience.”

At the time of writing, he has been making good use of his time here at Dartford, having made nine appearances to date (three of which have been in the starting eleven).

And Rohan has scored one goal so far, and what an important one it was… the last minute winner in the derby at Welling United… a goal that instantly wrote him into the club’s history books!

Rohan is confident that he can help Dartford to achieve the success we all so desperately desire…

“Alongside gaining as much men’s football experience, I also hope to grab another trophy, as we’re still in with a chance of reaching the playoffs at the moment. I think we’ve got a great chance, and I know that the gaffer and the lads all believe as well. We just have to dig deep and continue pushing!”

What does Rohan bring to Ady Pennock’s squad?

“My attitude and desire sets me apart from some of my peers. Whenever I have the opportunity to be out on that pitch, I’ll give 100% in every game. My pace and power going forwards is definitely a strength of mine. However, I’m still a bit raw. Personally, I don’t think that’s a bad thing, as I’m young and have time to learn. That’s why I’m here on loan.

“I want to play as high as possible for as long as power. However, there’s always challenges that pop up in football, such as rejection. I think that’s a big challenge for us footballers. I was released by Burnley, which was a tough one to take to be honest.”

Has Rohan learnt anything important during his career so far?

“Nothing’s ever given to you. You’ve got to roll your sleeves up and earn your position. That’s advice I received once and try to live by.”

As he’s mentioned it, does he have a preference in terms of where he plays out on the pitch?

“I’d say striker. However, I’m enjoying playing on the left at the moment, but I do prefer playing as a striker. I just love the feeling of scoring a goal. It’s a feeling that nothing else can match.

With Rohan being in the QPR Development Squad, he’s a full-time professional player, so doesn’t really need to concern himself with the challenge of balancing part-time football and working life. However, he does train with QPR throughout the week, while also training with his Dartford teammates during their designated evenings.

Does he have any issues with remaining motivated throughout the long seasons in the English game?

“Not really, but family and friends are massive. They play a huge role in helping me remain motivated.”

And as a professional playing for a Non-League side, how does he prepare himself on matchdays?

“By being as calm as possible. You’ve got to have a level head once you step out onto that pitch.”

Does he have any advice for the younger generation of footballer?

“You have to be relentless at everything you do.”

Sound advice from a player who’s “living the dream” of being a full-time football player. Let’s hope that he does get the opportunity to grab that playoff trophy at the end of the season, as he continues to learn under the guidance of Ady Pennock.

SECTION TWO
Do you have any pre-game rituals or superstitions?
I do my left shin pad left sock, then right shin pad right sock, then left boot, then right boot every game without fail.

Favourite footballer?
It’s got to be Cristiano Ronaldo. Just his mentality… He’s a different breed!

Favourite football team?
Huddersfield Town is my home club, and it was the first professional team I played for.

Favourite football moment?
Got to say winning the league with Dundalk.

Biggest role model?
Definitely my brother. We’re very alike and his attitude is just something different. I sometimes wish I had it, it’s quality.

Team to watch out for in the league this season?
Dartford of course!

Who are your biggest supporters?
My Dad 100%. I wouldn’t be here playing if he didn’t support me the way he has done over the years.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?
Probably that I’m northern.

What sport would you do if you didn’t play football?
Rugby, it’s big back up north. All my mates play it. It has to be Rugby League though.

Who will win the Premier League this season?
It’s looking like Arsenal at the moment, but we’ll see.
