Good news for north Kent bus passengers

by | May 20, 2016 | Dartford News

Arriva is launching a summer offer this weekend which will allow customers to travel across north Kent for less.

From Sunday, May 22, a £20 weekly ticket will allow unlimited travel throughout Gravesend and the whole of Kent Thameside.

Craig Taylor, marketing manager for Arriva, said: “The £20 weekly ticket gives huge savings for commuters and is almost half the price of a comparative rail season ticket – Gravesend to Dartford is £34.

“The new ticket will also provide a saving of £5 for many customers and gives unlimited travel from Gravesend to Bluewater, Ebbsfleet and beyond. This is a great offer which gives our customers unlimited access to a huge geographical area and makes bus travel even more cost effective.”

Additionally, there are now savings to be made on many other tickets in north Kent:

•The Dartford weekly ticket gets reduced from £16.50 to £16

•Day tickets in Dartford are being reduced by 30p and will go from £4.80 to £4.50 and in Gravesend they are reduced by 50p, down from £5.50 to £5, which is an 8% saving

•4-weekly tickets in Gravesend are being reduced from £70 to £63 while Thameside go from £80 to £78

•For customers buying single fares, there are reductions on most £2.30 fares which go down to £2.20 while most £1.50 fares become £1.20, a 20% saving

•Most adult return fares have been reduced from £2.70 to £2.20 while most £4.50 fares go down to £4

•Many child fares will be reduced by 5p

“We are always looking at ways to offer our customers the best possible value for money and we want Arriva to be the first choice for their travel needs in north Kent,” continued Craig Taylor.

“I’m delighted to be announcing so many reductions as it will make travel – whether for work or pleasure – more affordable. Kent Thameside buses are all fitted with free wifi which means you can work, catch up on social media or do some online shopping while you’re travelling.”

Weekly tickets can be purchased in advance online, via the app or from the bus driver. Using the free Arriva Bus app, which is available on iPhone and Android devices, passengers can track their bus in real time and plan their journey with information available on the next bus, the nearest bus stop and which bus to catch.
