On 16th March the festival, which was free to attend in Dartford, featured high energy music, cultural performances and the iconic throwing of coloured powder, creating an electric atmosphere of fun and togetherness. Thousands of attendees of all ages and backgrounds enthusiastically joined in, covering each other in brilliant hues and embracing the spirit of Holi – a tradition rooted in love, friendship and the triumph of good over evil.
The event in Dartford is the largest of its kind in Kent, with over 3,500 people in attendance. Supported by Dartford Borough Council, Arts Council England ans Cohesionplus working alongside local community members, the event brought big smiles and laughter with various Councillors in attendance, including Jeremy Kite, Andy Lloyd, Chris Shippam and Richard Wells, as well as Gurvinder Sandher (Deputy Lieutenant Kent).
People were busy enjoying the event, taking videos, dancing to the DJ’s music, eating Indian street food, capturing photos and sharing updates on social media. Dance performances on stage were one of the main highlights of the event. All the performers were applauded for their artistic stage performances besides the unstoppable cheering from the crowds.
