Michal, who turns 16 this month, trains and fight out of Stone Fight Academy in Welling and also regularly trains and spars at Skywalkers in Belvedere. His weeks are packed with school, technical sessions, sparring, one-to-one coaching and fight preparation, with training forming a huge part of his life.
What makes Michal’s achievements even more meaningful is where his journey began.
From around the age of two and a half, Michal suffered badly with asthma following bronchitis. As a young child, running and physical activity could be difficult for him. For his family, seeing him develop from a little boy who struggled with his breathing into a highly competitive athlete has been incredibly emotional.
Over the years, combat sport helped Michal build his fitness, confidence, discipline and determination. What began as training soon became a passion, and that passion has now taken him to national, European and world-level competition.
During the past year alone, Michal has won the Super Fight Series English Title, ICO English Title, ISKA English Title and KBX World Title.
One of his biggest moments came in July 2026, when he defeated reigning champion Nate Bersabal to win the KBX World Title and become the UK number-one ranked fighter in his category.
His mum, Michalina, says the journey is about far more than belts and photographs.
“People see the fight and the belt at the end, but they don’t always see everything behind it — the hours of training, travelling, discipline, nerves and sacrifices. Knowing how much Michal struggled with asthma when he was little makes every achievement even more special.”
As Michal moves to the next stage of his career, another challenge is finding support. Training, private coaching, equipment, travel and competition costs quickly add up, and securing sponsorship for a young athlete can be difficult.
His family would love to see more local businesses getting behind young sporting talent from the Dartford area as Michal continues to represent his community and push towards even bigger goals.
From asthma to world champion, Michal’s story shows what can be achieved through hard work, dedication and support — and at just 16, his journey is still only beginning.
