Regional Beer Fest returns for its 12th year!

by | Apr 19, 2017 | Where to go locally

The Bexley Beer Festival is returning for its 12th event on 4th – 6th May, 2017, dedicated local beer enthusiasts announce.  Involving many breweries including those in the Dartford and Bexley area, this event is run by local volunteers for all serious real ale enthusiasts in the region and others seeking to broaden their taste bud’s horizons.

It is being organised and run by volunteers with support from the not for profit Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA)at the Old Dartfordians Sports Club, Bourne Road, Bexley, DA5 1LW. The organisers must be doing something right for the festival to have continued for over a decade. Everything about the Fest that has made it so popular for over a decade remains the same, including, as per last year, a large marquee.

As usual, the event will see scores of real ales from across Kent and other counties and so visitors will be able to sample and get a feel for the spectrum of traditional brewery produce.  Indeed, it will not be just beers on offer but also ciders and Perrys, the cousins to real ale.

Last year saw nearly one and a half thousand attend. This year who knows how many will be coming – that depends on the word getting out via both social and traditional local media – but all will be welcome.

As it has been for recent years, for its 12th incarnation the Bexley Beer Festival will be held in the Old Dartfordians Sports Club War Memorial Club House in Bourne Road, Bexley. It is under 10 minutes walk from Bexley Station and is served by a number of bus routes including the 132, 229, 492 and B12, while for those being driven there is a car park.  Indeed the event being held in picturesque Bexley with a direct rail connection to Dartford a couple of stops one way, and stations to London the other, means that it contributes to a great day out. With a real pint with hot and cold snacks to round off a day of shopping or site seeing, the Festival is an ideal way to say goodbye to the winter blues.

The festival is being organised by volunteers from the Bexley Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) along with assistance from other CAMRA branches far and wide. Full details on www.bexley.camra.org
