In the world of remote work, your office is wherever your creativity feels most inspired.
In recent times, the concept of remote work has gained significant traction across the globe, with the UK being one of the leading nations taking on this trend with open arms.
Let’s throw some light on what exactly is Remote Work more commonly known as Work from home.
Remote work which is also called work from home or WFH involves performing work tasks from a location other than a traditional office, often using technology as a medium to stay connected and to complete tasks.
While the idea of working from home initially caused debates and rattled some feathers about employee laziness and distractions, many studies and real-world experiences have shown that remote working can enhance productivity and create a fine work life balance.
“Remote work has been a resounding success for me, both personally and professionally. It’s improved my work-life balance, allowing me to be more present for my family, while also giving me time to prioritize my mental health, hobbies, and new initiatives. With a healthier diet from home-cooked meals, better coordination with my team across 16 time zones, and the ability to work ’round the clock’ without exhaustion, I’ve found that I’m more efficient and focused on delivering results, unencumbered by the distractions of commuting and office life,” opines
Basubrata cheerfully who works for a well known marketing consultancy as a Product & Innovation Lead.
A popular gym in the area of Dartford is flooded with clients and the owner is smiling ear to ear. When contacted, Tim quipped,
“I can’t thank the concept of work from home enough, it’s much more convenient for the clients to pick their slots now, they’re more flexible and have become quite regular”.
A study conducted by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) in 2021 found that 78% of UK employees reported higher job satisfaction while working remotely compared to traditional office environments. Employees feel empowered when they have control over their working environment and which leads to heightened morale and enhances their commitment towards their work.
Dhiraj Mehta, Director with a private bank who is also a resident of Dartford, states, “WFH has been a boon for me as my work expects me to work with staff from 12 different time zones. Working in a traditional office set up would not help my case, I’m happy to be working remotely and achieving my targets. I must add I’ve seen great improvement in my mental health, I’m much more relaxed and am able to give my 100 percent to everything I do, whether it is my work commitments or going for regular walks in this beautiful green town of Dartford.”
McKinsey research shows that, when employees have the opportunity to work from home, a massive 87% of them take it. Much of that is owed to the flexibility remote work provides.
“Living in Dartford offers great travel connections to London, but remote / hybrid work gives me the flexibility to balance my professional and personal life. Reducing long commutes allows me to spend more quality time with my family. Being at home means I can be more present for my loved ones, whether it’s for family meals or simply offering support when needed. Remote work allows me to create a comfortable, personalized workspace while reducing stress and giving me the freedom to be there for my family and be more flexible while managing expectations at work,” says Shayam Hazarika, Senior Risk Manager whose been a resident of Dartford for nearly 5 years.
Hayley Ferrari, administration clerk with Booker is all in favor of remote work culture. She believes that working from home is an excellent idea especially for working mums, trying to raise their families while trying to make a living. Working from home allows working mums to be able to spend quality time with their children. It saves families a lot of money on childcare as well.
The benefits of working from home are plenty for families looking to still work but also be present in their children’s lives and not miss out on the major events of them growing up. Not all people who work from home have children but choose to work from home for different reasons. Depending on what job role one has, some people who work from home get to choose their own hours and work it around their day to day life. This gives freedom to a person to make money but also enjoy their day. So all in all working from home is a fantastic idea.
In conclusion, remote work isn’t a mere trend; it’s a cultural shift, empowering individuals to design their work lives with intention.
