Muse Developments has submitted plans to deliver a mixed-use regeneration of the Westgate site in Dartford town centre.
The plans will transform and re-purpose this area, bringing forward much needed homes, a new cinema, with family-friendly restaurants and bars, a vibrant public realm, along with a striking new hotel behind the façade of the former Co-op building.
The new cinema will be built a short distance from the Orchard Theatre to create a new cultural quarter in the town. The scheme will also provide a new car park, as well as provisions for health and well-being services.
James Stockdale, development director at Muse Developments, said:
“We understand there are more important issues across the country at present, with regards to Coronavirus. However, as a responsible business, we want to make sure the community has every opportunity for their views on the proposals to be heard. Given the current situation, we will be
organising online sessions for local residents, so they can be kept up to date with the Westgate project, while making sure the public and our team are safe and well.”
Hundreds of Dartford’s residents submitted comments and ideas during the consultation on the scheme back in the Summer of 2018, with 69% supporting the plans. Over 1,000 people attended local events and hundreds more submitted comments online.
The scheme includes:
• A new cinema
• New bars and restaurants
• Up to 120 high-quality homes, including affordable housing
• A hotel with up to 85 beds
• A multi-storey car park
• A new public square
• Provisions for health and well-being service
The application will be available to view on Dartford Council’s planning portal.
