Match Report from Dartford FC –

This afternoon Dartford FC took on Truro City in their sixth home match of the season.

It was clear from the start that Truro City were a well organised side, and got many people behind the ball to make it difficult for Dartford to penetrate with any of their football.

Truro were always going to play on the break, and forced a couple of corners through some good play. Dartford also had a good chance from Lee Noble, getting onto a Kaka Dembele pull back which Noble put over the bar. DFC had a lot of possession but could not find that final ball to create enough chances in the first half to take the lead.

Dartford pushed forward in the second half and the game had a lot of possession but did still not open up a solid Truro defence. Dartford made three changes during the second half, one giving Ben Francis his first team debut. With the game being one way traffic, Truro broke down the right hand side and from a resulting throw in a cross came in which was met by Aaron Dawson which Deren Ibrahim saved, but the rebound was put in by a Isaac Vassell. This gave Truro the lead, but seemed to urge DFC on with more vocal support from the crowd.

Chances fell to Andy Pugh and Lee Noble, and during injury time Ben Francis pulled a good save from the Truro keeper, and off the rebound George Sykes followed up, but the Truro keeper pulled off another fine save.

Tony Burman said of the game ‘ When you’re playing games where teams come and do their job by getting lots of players behind the ball, we found ourselves having a lot of possession but anything we created our opponents were organised and dealt with it. You always run the risk of getting caught on a counter attacked if you don’t punish your opponents. That’s exactly what happened and we went a goal down after 86 minutes. Although we had a couple of chances late on, we’ve got to have a bit of desire and willingness and create more chances than we did.’
