Dartford knock out Gillingham in Kent Senior Cup

by | Nov 17, 2015 | Dartford Sport

Last night saw Dartford FC knock Gillingham out of the Kent Senior Cup on home turf at Princes Park.

Tony Burman said “I was really pleased with the performance against such a strong Gillingham side. It was a good chance for the players who haven’t had many minutes lately to get a full match under their belts. Overall I felt we deserved to win the tie and go through to the next round.”

Lee Noble who started the match last night as Captain, said “I thought the game started well and I think we pressed them very high when we could. We kept good possession of the ball as well. When we had gone one nil down we kept going and pushing to get the equaliser. The move from Dajon Golding down the left hand side to get the corner was great, and then putting the ball in for Tom Wynter to get on the end of for the first goal was even better. In a moment of brilliance, Jack Simmons beat his man and put it in the top corner, taking us into the lead. I think overall the team performed very well, and we look forward to the next round.”

Elliot Bradbrook who came off the bench at half time for Lee Noble and took the Captaincy role for the second half added “That is great result against a Gillingham team full of experienced pros. We spoke before the game about wanting to stay in the competition as long as possible so to come out and perform like that against them was excellent. The unbeaten run continues and hopefully we can keep it going as long as possible.”

The next Kent Senior Cup match date will be announced in due course.
