Four new trustees join the Board at ellenor

by | May 20, 2016 | Dartford Charities

The Board of Trustees at ellenor has recently welcomed four new members, including David Philpott, past Chairman of the Institute of Directors in Kent. He has been joined by Kerry-Jane Packman, Jan Stanton and Mark Lovell.

David has spent the last 30 years in the not-for- profit sector, working in Africa, the US and the UK. He now divides his time between his roles as CEO at Wiltshire Air Ambulance, CEO of The Kenward Trust and running his own niche consultancy, which specialises in board development, recruitment, mediation and growth strategies.

“I have been privileged to work across a wide variety of specialisms in the charity sector and I now look forward to learning more about the amazing care ellenor provides to its patients and their families and bringing what experience and know-how I have to this very special charity,” says David.

Kerry-Jane Packman is currently Director of Resource Development & Communications for International Medical Corps in London. Her previous experience includes working for charities including Maggie’s, Christian Aid and Depaul UK.

“My background is within fundraising and communications, therefore I hope to provide valuable experience and advice to help ellenor generate more income and awareness,” says Kerry-Jane. “Growing up in the Bexleyheath/Barnehurst area, ellenor has always been a charity that has been within my local community and which I recognised for its amazing work.”

Jan Stanton owns the Gravesend law firm, Stantons Solicitors. She has been qualified as a specialist family law solicitor for the last 39 years and has sat as a family court judge for over ten years.

“I was keen to join the ellenor board as a local business owner and resident,” says Jan. “I have a particular interest in organisational dynamics and their impact on staff retention and morale. I felt that my experience in running a small business where I have managed to retain staff over very many years could bring a relatively unusual skill and interest to the board.”

Jan has extensive experience of children with special needs, having represented children in care proceedings throughout her career, been a foster-carer and chaired special educational needs tribunals for some years as well.

Mark Lovell works for Sense and leads on the strategic development of new business, ensuring ambitious targets for growth are successfully achieved. Mark’s work also focuses on bringing together and establishing positive and valuable relationships with key external partners and commissioners.

“I am incredibly impressed by the services that ellenor has to offer and also how the charity treats people with dignity, respect and compassion,” says Mark. “I think it’s an exciting time to join the board. I like making things happen and have lots of contacts in lots of sectors which I hope I can tap into to support ellenor to enable grow and develop.”

The board of trustees has responsibility for maintaining that the charity is accountable and compliant – something which ellenor takes very seriously. The group also brings a variety of different skills to the board, which will help the charity to grow and develop.

The Board at ellenor is chaired by Mo Tutty, who says: “We are delighted to welcome these new board members, who bring myriad skills to ellenor. As a charity, we must continue to be forward-looking and being able to utilise the strengths of these experienced professionals will help us to do that.”
