Halloween comes to Battersea’s Brands Hatch cattery

by | Oct 31, 2016 | Dartford Charities

On Wednesday 26 October 2016, all little witches, wizards and werewolves are invited to a family-friendly Scaredy Cat event at Battersea’s Kent centre to take part in fun activities such as tombola, crafts, bric-a-brac, and name-the-cat. Best of all, visitors will have the chance to get to know our cats looking for their forever homes.

Some of Battersea’s feline friends are naturally shy and may spend a lot of their time hiding in their pens – but the charity hopes visitors will be able to see past their nervous exteriors to what wonderful and loving pets they will make. One such scaredy cat looking for a home is beautiful 18-month-old tortoiseshell Nala – just one of the 2,700 cats cared for at Battersea‘s three sites so far this year. Nala spends her days in the cattery hiding under her blanket, but while she may be showing her nervous side at the moment, staff are sure that once settled in a loving forever home she will prove to be a sweet and loyal friend.

Michelle Bevan, Rehoming & Welfare Manager says, “Nala’s a lovely girl who really blossoms once she gets to know you.

“She’s just one of our scaredy cats who have their paws crossed for a new family in time for Halloween. Life can be tough for our timid kitties, as they’re sometimes too shy to say hello to visitors – and it can be even more difficult if they’re black cats, which on average last year took 15% longer to rehome than other colours. However, our scaredy cats still make wonderful loving pets and it’s so rewarding to gain their trust.

We can’t wait to welcome everyone to our Brands Hatch centre for our Scaredy Cat event, where we hope to match as many cats to their purrfect homes as possible and enjoy some spooky fun in the process”.
