Local home care company celebrates two years with open day at new office

by | Jul 26, 2021 | Dartford News, Health

Local home care company, Home Instead Dartford has recently celebrated two years of caring for local seniors with an open day in their new premises in Erith.

The open day celebrated a number of things: their second anniversary, opening a new office, and their team of well-established, dedicated caregivers.

They invited caregivers, office staff, clients and their families to the open day to enjoy cake and hot drinks, activities including a raffle, and to chat and catch-up in a covid-safe manner. The local community was also invited to find out more about their services.

The cake sale and the raffle raised £63.05 for Home Instead Charities, a foundation which funds activities and groups for older people across the UK. The company made a further donation of £230 in honour of two of their clients who recently passed away, which will be donated in their name.

Christina Uppenkamp, co-owner of Home Instead Dartford commented: “It was lovely to recently welcome our team and clients to our new office to celebrate two years of caring for the local community, and to celebrate their dedication. Everyone had a great time, and we were honoured to donate to Home Instead Charities in memory of two of our recently passed clients.

“Helping community groups and charities who help ageing adults is a really powerful way to remember someone and to keep their memory alive. We hope that their families will gain comfort from the fact that the memories of their loved ones are living on through those who are benefitting from the activities the charity supports and funds.”

The home care company which launched in 2019 has kept local seniors safe and well in their own homes throughout the pandemic. Caregivers from Home Instead were recently awarded with the ‘Swanscombe Pandemic Hero Award’, recognising their role as key workers throughout the past year. The company was also named as Highly Commended in the Home Care Awards 2021, for the Best Start Up Home Care Service or Franchise.

Ram Chandra Thapa, co-owner of Home Instead Dartford said: “We cannot believe it has been two years since we opened- it has gone so quickly, and we have achieved things we never imagined.

“Alongside being shortlisted for many awards, we have grown our team and client base, moved office, and our caring team were named as local pandemic heroes. It’s amazing to have their hard work recognised, as they have played such a crucial role in keeping older people safe within their own homes throughout the pandemic. We are so grateful for our team and our clients, and we are excited for many more years of caring in Dartford!”
