Local Resident’s Photographs Feature in First Official Dartford Borough Calendar

by | Dec 6, 2017 | Dartford Art

Local community magazine Dartford Living has teamed up with Dartford Borough Council to produce the first ever Official Dartford Borough Calendar with any proceeds heading to the ellenor hospice.

The calendar features images of the town taken by talented amateur photographer Janice Blake.

Launching the 2018 Dartford calendar, Dartford Living’s editor Vijay Jain said…

Calendar 2017 Photos“Janice Blake’s stunning pictures have become a real talking point online and her work spread across social media like wildfire. She clearly has an amazing talent for composition and an ability to capture just the right moment. I was talking to Jeremy, the Council Leader, a few weeks ago and it turned out he was a big fan of her photographs too. We both thought it would be a great idea to bring some of Janice’s work together for a calendar and she very kindly agreed to let us use a selection of her photographs.”

The 2018 Official Dartford Borough Council features atmospheric landscapes from across the Borough including photographs of local communities, the town’s Central Park and wildlife habitats at Brooklands Lakes and Dartford Marshes.

Council Leader Jeremy Kite says the calendar shows casts a light on a Dartford that not everyone sees.

“Janice captures a side to Dartford that’s almost hidden in plain sight. Like most towns, we have our fair share of urban issues but her pictures capture a very different and beautiful side of the community that’s very uplifting and inspiring. People are busy and don’t always have the opportunity to appreciate some of the glorious natural environment that threads through and around around Dartford and her pictures bring all that to life.”

“When Janice’s photographs first started to be posted on social media it was clear that her work was something very special. Dartford Living started an online gallery and I don’t mind admitting that I was one of those who always checked for new pictures. Vijay and I agreed instantly that her photographs would make a wonderful calendar and I’m delighted that it’s now available and helping such a good local cause.”

The 2018 Official Dartford Borough Calendar is on sale now priced at £4.95. Copies are being sold online through ebay and are available at a number of outlets around the town including Stephen Oliver: Studio & Gallery in the Orchards Shopping Centre, the What If? gallery in the High Street.
