New Mayor of Dartford elected for 2023/24

Councillor Rosanna Currans has been appointed as the Mayor of Dartford for the next 12 months.

The Brent ward councillor, who has served as a deputy mayor for the past year, succeeds outgoing Mayor Cllr Paul Cutler. Members elected Cllr Currans at an Annual Council meeting last Wednesday.

Councillor Currans was first elected to Dartford Borough Council in 2014 and previously served as The Worshipful the Mayor of Dartford in 2017/18 and in 2021/22. She was born in London and has been a Dartford resident since 1983. 

Councillor Currans is married to husband Alan, with whom she has three sons and three grandsons.

During a long and varied career, Councillor Currans had an assortment of jobs ranging from circus girl, to bar maid, to performing secretarial work while raising her children. Her last job before retiring was Office Manager for Wimpey Construction Management during work on HMP Belmarsh in Woolwich, which opened in 1991.

Councillor Currans will be supported throughout her Mayoral Year by Mrs Corinna Bailey, who will accompany her on official engagements as her Escort. 

The new Deputy Mayor is Councillor Andy Lloyd, and his wife Mrs Diana Lloyd, is the new Deputy Mayoress.

The Mayor’s Charity Appeal for 2023-24 will support four charities; Dartford Lions, Healthy Living Centre Dartford, Home Start, Lantern Community Centre.
