Do You want to do The Time Warp Again? I did!

Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show World Tour 2019 is at The Orchard Theatre this week and I was lucky enough to see it on the opening night.

Straight away the scene is set with Brad (James Darch Wicked, Mamma Mia) and Janet (Joanne Clifton Flashdance, Strictly Come Dancing) mistakenly and desperately finding their way up to the home of the decadent, yet mad scientist Dr Frank N Furter (Stephen Webb  Jersey Boys, Legally Blonde), creator of Rocky and surrounded by his so-called loyal staff including Riff Raff, Columbia and Magenta.

After that, it was was a no-holds barred riotous mixture of fantastic songs, impressive light and music effects and great characters.

Philip Franks (Darling Buds Of May, Bleak House, Witness For The Prosecution) as the Narrator helped the production move smoothly along and added a sense of familiarity for the audience. We were on this journey too.

We all know most of the songs but they were delivered brilliantly, my friend and I were gripping our seats trying not to get up to dance and sing along too early in the show.

If you want to see a show full of energy, glam costumes and scenery – and let’s face it, it is slightly bonkers! – it will be at The Orchard Theatre until Saturday 28th September 2019.

By the way, of course we did jump up and dance as soon as we could…along with the rest of the audience! It was a fantastic night.
