We Are Beams rated ‘OUTSTANDING’ by Ofsted

by | May 7, 2025 | Dartford Charities

Dragons Retreat, a vital short breaks service run by local charity We Are Beams, has received the highest possible rating of ‘Outstanding’ from Ofsted following a rigorous and comprehensive inspection

With six fully fitted bedrooms, Dragon’s Retreat is an independent short break unit providing overnight care for children and young people with disabilities up to the age of 18 years.

The charity provides a home-from-home enriching experience, promoting independent living skills and ensuring the children or young person has fun whilst staying there.

The report, which closely examined every element of service delivery, recognised the unwavering commitment of the team to providing exceptional care and enriching experiences for children and young people with disabilities and complex needs.

Robin Adams, Registered Manager of Dragons Retreat since May 2023, is so proud of the achievement:

“I am extremely proud that Ofsted recognise our service as Outstanding. I have always felt that the team work extremely hard to ensure all our families and young people get an excellent service from us. Since stepping into the Registered Manager role, the whole team and I have worked together to improve the service and ensure it is the best it can be for our families and young people. This outcome just rubber stamps it.”

The Ofsted accolade reflects a year of intense dedication by the entire team, who have strived not only to enhance the quality of care but also to foster an environment that enables children and young people to learn, grow, and prepare for adulthood—while having fun and building meaningful friendships.

We Are Beams, continues to lead the way in delivering support services for disabled children and their families across Kent, with this latest achievement marking a significant milestone in its mission to empower young lives.
