Fomer Mayor Cllr Avtar Sandhu MBE presents a £1,000 donation to North West
Kent College’s Miskin Radio. For the last year Miskin Radio students have been
in support of the Mayor of Dartford’s Charity Appeal 2014/2015.
Every month 1st year students on the Creative Media Production course would
interview the Mayor and promote his work within charity and publicise his events.
The students were even able to attend some of the events that are linked to his
charities such as the Christmas light switch on, St George’s day parade and the
former Mayor’s very own ice bucket challenge. Miskin Radio students were also
able to raise the profile of charities linked to the Mayor through interviews and air
time.
Former Mayor Cllr Avtar Sandhu MBE states “I would like to thank all the
students involved for their promotional efforts for the charity events and their
professionalism when undertaking the monthly interviews”.
The Mayor supports 34 charities and a staggering £52,000 in money and
donations in-kind has been raised throughout the Mayors charity events. The
funds raised will help each charity to continue to deliver their aims and objectives
to help the community.
The money donated to Miskin Radio will be used to produce continual content for
the local community across the North West Kent area. Andrew Sayers,
Curriculum Manager for Media states “This money will enable us to continue to
offer voluntary and community organisations free on-air promotional adverts and
interviews to help them raise their profile”.
